Antonietta Collins
Antonietta Toni Gonzalez Collins (born in Mexico) is an Mexican American sportscaster. She hosts SportsNation and is a SportsCenter anchor. She began working for ESPN in the year 2016. The daughter of TV reporter Maria Antonieta Collins. Antonietta is bilingual since the age of nine. Her skill was instrumental in helping her get her first job as a an assistant to the production team at Univision Miami and Univision Miami, where she was a producer of programs including Nuestra Belleza Latina and Premios Lo Nuestro Premios Juventud. After this she was hired by she was hired by the CBS affiliate in St. Petersburg employed her as a sport reporter. In 2009, she relocated to Rio Grande Valley to work as a journalist at KNVO TV 48 Univision & Fox2 News. Her stories covered immigration drugs, immigration, as well as other issues on both the Texas and Mexico border. Also, she was the Spanish reporter on the newscast at 5 p.m., an anchor and reporter of the newscast of nine p.m. in English and again a Spanish reporter at 10 p.m. Anchor duties for weather or sports were often requested. She was then the anchor and reporter for Univision Dallas' Deportes 23. The station then gave her more responsibility. She wrote for sports like the NBA, Dallas Cowboys' postseason games, NBA ALDS ALCS World Series or Finals FC Dallas. Additionally, she was the producer of Univision 23's local sports show Accion Deportiva Extra on which she also served as anchor herself. She was promoted as anchoring sports to Despierta America Deportes' morning show. In addition, she served as a sports anchor in Primer Impacto, a magazine show on the UniMas Network and Contacto Deportivo. Antonietta Collins' parents are originally from Veracruz Mexico. The girl was born on November 22nd, 1984 in Mexico City. Also, she has a younger sibling. In 1992 her family left Mexico and moved to Miami. They divorced shortly thereafter and in 1995 her mother was remarried to an architect from the naval profession known as Fabio Fajardo who died of kidney cancer in 2006. In the summer in 2006 she spent a week with her sister in Canton Ohio. The older Collins girl worked there. Antonietta who was in high school having a clear idea of where she wanted her future to be, visited Mount Union University in order to find out what she could get out of the college. It was an amazing campus. They also offered her the degree she wanted. After graduation, she enrolled at the university as a major in media studies. Professor Mark Bergmann, who managed WRMU FM, and was member of her class, developed a lasting relationship with the student. He was the one who boosted her confidence and whose passion in Journalism touched her deeply. In turn, she strived to fulfill his expectations, never letting him down.
